1. Welcome to FHGC! Thank you for joining us. Tell me about yourself and what keeps you blooming in your purpose?
Hi there, thank you for having me! I am Nia
C. Ballard and I am a creative – entrepreneur and influencer. I began my career in entertainment, working in PR and Media. Over the past two years, I have transitioned from working with some of Hollywood’s elite to being a full -time entrepreneur as CEO of niachantal.com
, a beauty, lifestyle and culture platform for the millennial and Gen Z creative entrepreneur. What keeps me blooming is my fierce belief in myself and my dreams. Knowing that I wake up every day doing what I love leads me to wholeheartedly believe that it will all be worth it.
2. What does wellness mean to you?
Wellness definitely means balance to me. As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to feel like I’m not doing enough for my business, and work for 12 hours non-stop. I noticed that lifestyle was making me physically sick so now I set boundaries for myself. I wake up at 7 am, however, I don’t begin work until 9 am and finish no later than 10 pm. In between that time, I have tea, fix myself meals, go to the gym, and set breaks so the work isn’t so constant and stressful.
3. What’s an exciting accomplishment you have made so far on your wellness journey??
I’m so proud of myself for getting back in the gym and basically cutting fast food out of my diet. A few years ago I diagnosed a stomach condition from overworking myself. Recently, I found out foods like chicken and corn made the condition flare up. Because of that, I’ve made great strides to become a pescatarian. Eventually, I hope to be 100% vegan. However, I’m trusting time and the process and moving at a steady pace to reach that goal.
4. What do you wish you had known at a younger age, in regards to your health and wellness?
I’ve always been an active person whether it was cheer or dance. I never loved fast food that much either. I wish I was more open to vegetable options. I typically didn’t explore beyond green beans, green peas, collards, black-eyed peas. Today, I love those as well as asparagus, spinach, zucchini, squash, and cauliflower.
5. The FH lifestyle is about planting your health on higher ground. What is your biggest advice to someone who is on the path to flourishing heights?
Audit yourself and figure out what you’re lacking and could need some spiritual watering. Eliminate distractions and social media’s definition of “fit” or the “glow up.” Get aligned with your creator and elevating and planting your health on higher ground should be a no brainer!
