1. Welcome to FHGC! Thank you for joining us. Tell me about yourself and what keeps you blooming in your purpose?
Hi, I’m Jenny! I practice law in Washington, D.C. where I live with my husband. When I am not at toiling away at work, I enjoy travel, new experiences, and a good outfit. My obsession with all the above led me to create my blog, JennytheHENRY.com. HENRY stands for “high earners, not rich yet.” HENRYs tend to have disposable income and a penchant for quality services, luxury goods, and experiences. On my blog and accompanying Instagram, I share the highs and lows of my HENRY lifestyle and find fulfillment in sharing my journey with others. Creating community and connecting with others about lifestyle tips excites me and motivates me to keep going and growing!
2. What does wellness mean to you in one word and how are you balancing wellness everyday?
Defining wellness is a moving target, but in my life I find that wellness and frequent self-reflection go hand in hand. Specifically, I am constantly assessing my surroundings, diet, and environment in order to determine what is helping or hindering my wellness goals. I take proactive measures towards protecting my well-being, which includes taking the pulse of my mental, emotional, and physical health and making the necessary adjustments. This constant readjustment is crucial for my wellness because what my body and spirit need now may not be the same things I needed a year ago.
3. What’s an exciting accomplishment you have made so far on your wellness journey??
An integral component of my wellness journey is exercising 3-5 times a week. I either do body weight exercises, cardio, lift, run, or take a group class. I always mix it up to prevent boredom! I made it a priority to adhere to this training schedule in my late 20s, regardless of the demands of my personal or work life. For example, if I am traveling for work, I make it a priority to book a hotel with a gym with so I can stay physically active while on the road. I also have access to gyms near my home and work in order to ensure that a workout is always within reach. I am now in my early thirties and maintaining this training regimen, despite the hectic requirements of my life, has been helpful. Specifically, this long standing commitment to myself has served as a reminder that regardless of how unpredictable my schedule is on a given day, part of it will inevitably include a workout. That sort of stability is grounding for me.

4. What do you wish you had known at a younger age, in regards to your health and wellness?
Research, research and more research! The health and wellness fields are saturated with gimmicks and propaganda, as well as practices that can be life changing. As such, it can sometimes prove difficult to determine what wellness techniques to adopt or modify. When I was younger, I would jump on all sorts of health and wellness trends with abandon and fail to research the science or efficacy behind a trend. This led to lots of frustration when I did not obtain the results that were promised. Now, I am more discerning when it comes to my health and wellness and only incorporate trends or new practices after I have thoroughly researched them.
5. The FH lifestyle is about planting your health on higher ground. What is your biggest advice to someone who is on the path to flourishing heights?
My advice for someone who is on the path to flourishing heights is to remember that this is an individual journey. Journeys vary depending on the person. For example, someone in their early 20s may have a different path to wellness than someone in their 30s. These journeys to flourishing heights may diverge radically, but that doesn’t mean either path is wrong or better than the other. If someone is on their journey feeling strong, powerful, and at peace and no one else is co-signing that path, don’t worry and keep going. Your wellness must be centered on you and your personal goals and the rest will fall into place!
