1. Welcome to FHGC! Thank you for joining us. Tell me about yourself and what keeps you blooming in your purpose?
My name is Ashley Danielle and I am 25 years old. I am an interior designer and owner of Little Brownstone Interiors and also the creator of Style Meets Strategy. During my journey of being 25, I find it difficult to navigate life! It’s so easy to get caught up living life through others (thanks to social media) or being so hard on yourself when you don’t accomplish your set goals right away. What keeps me blooming in my purpose is remembering my why and being thankful for the journey that has led me to where I am. My life isn’t picture perfect and it’s not where I’d like it to be but I have the power to make small decisions daily that brings me one step closer to my purpose.
2. What does wellness mean to you in one word and how are you balancing wellness everyday?
Wellness means wholeness. It means taking care of yourself in all aspects of your life. For me, I live by clear space equals a clear mind. I balance wellness every day by ensuring that my life is in check. By this I mean eating healthy, finding a good work-life balance and sticking to my daily routine. For example; my day starts at 5 AM where I’ll wake up early to meditate/ pray, this allows me to be grateful for who I am and where I am. From there I’ll say my daily affirmations, I believe that it’s good to put your positive energy and mindset out there and the Universe/God will send back positive things your way even in the smallest ways. After I take a shower and get ready for the day. I typically try to have a smoothie bowl or a smoothie if I am on the go. When I am at work I time block my work schedule so I stay on track with what I need to accomplish for the day. I recently deleted my social media accounts so I can truly focus on being the best at my job and overall in life. Once I figure out how to be present and be the best then I’ll re-download my social media. On weekends I try to go for a run in the mornings and sometimes take a yoga class. In terms of working out, I haven’t quite figured out a set schedule but I still try to get some type of exercise in on the weekends.
3. What’s an exciting accomplishment you have made so far on your wellness journey??
An exciting accomplishment I have made so far in my wellness journey is switching to a healthier lifestyle by paying attention to what I put in my body. I never used to care about what I ate because I’m naturally slender. No matter what I eat or how much I ate I generally don’t gain weight. Although I was never really a junk food person or ate super unhealthy I decided that it was time to switch my food habits. Our food dictates how we feel and attributes to our health. I wanted to ensure that I was feeding my body with the right foods that would sustain me throughout the day and years to come. Switching to a cleaner living was the best thing I did for myself.
4. What do you wish you had known at a younger age, in regards to your health and wellness?
What I wish I had known at a younger age is that mental wellness is just as important and health wellness. I think people tend to focus on healthy habits and working out their bodies physically but your mental and emotional health is just as important. Once you have your physical, mental and emotional wellness in check you live a better life that feels whole. In order to be your best self, you need to be well as a whole. Life throws so many curveballs at you that we all tend to forget to check in with ourselves and process our thoughts and decisions on things. Today it is so much harder for younger girls to grow up when everything is social on a bigger realm. They have so much to deal with that now it’s five times more important for them to realize that their thoughts create their world. If their thoughts are focused on the negative things in their life from comparing to other women on social media they are developing a pattern that will be the root of a lot of mental and emotional problems. It’s so important to fuel your mind with daily affirmations and positivity the same way we take time to fuel our bodies with healthy foods and daily exercise.
5. The FH lifestyle is about planting your health on higher ground. What is your biggest advice to someone who is on the path to flourishing heights?
My biggest advice to someone who is on the path to flourishing heights is to start with yourself first. By this I mean, focus on yourself in many different aspects. Cut out the toxic things in your life, reset and renew your mind to positive thinking, do one thing you love daily. Love yourself entirely because the more you love yourself, the happy you’ll be and the more you’d want to take care of yourself from all aspects (health, wellness, beauty and more). Our body responds to our thoughts without us realizing it. If we are thinking negative we will eat negative and not take care of ourselves. It’s so important to focus on us first before we give our time to others.
