1. Welcome to FHGC! Thank you for joining us. Tell me about yourself and what keeps you blooming in your purpose?
I am an amazing Ghanaian-American. I am also a former Division 1 student-athlete, model, scholar, mentor, teacher and all around babe. One of the many things that keeps me blooming in my purpose is my God-given destiny, which is to help people achieve their full potential and build their self- esteem through Tennis.
2. What does wellness mean to you, in one word? How are you balancing wellness in your everyday life?
Discernment. When you discern a situation, you are able to prioritize where your focus needs to be. For instance, tennis is 90% mental and 10% physical. If you have already defeated yourself mentally, it becomes almost impossible to achieve any of your goals. If you have peace within yourself as an individual, you can conquer any trial and tribulation that gets thrown in your direction.
3. What’s an exciting accomplishment you have made so far on your wellness journey?
Lately, I have been eating much healthier and working out more. My older sister has been a big influence in helping me commit to living a healthier lifestyle. Instead of opting for candy and chips, I grab yogurt with granola or a banana. My breaking point occurred one day in traffic after work… I caught myself with my right hand submerged in a bag full of chips and a bulging belly. I used to always be tired and I would feel like crap daily. My body was responding to my bad habits. Now, I work out at least twice a week and watch what I eat. Since I made that change, I feel like a new Ama!
4. The FH lifestyle is about planting your health on higher ground. What is your biggest advice to someone who is on the path to flourishing heights?
My biggest advice to someone who is on the path to flourishing heights is to fuel their spirit constantly with self affirmations. Every morning, I commit the day into God’s hands, and I tell myself that, “Today is going to be a great day! I am great! I will make it in this life! I am smart! I am beautiful and I am worthy of any good thing that comes my way!” When you fuel your spirit with these affirmations, it becomes easier to handle negative situations that come your way.
