IT’S TIME TO BOUNCE BACK
Are you are beginning this wellness journey or have you been on it for a while? Not getting the results you hoped for or are you unsure of where to start? Maybe you struggle with commitment and you aren’t ready to make the changes necessary to give you better health. You desire better health so that you can thrive in your purpose, be there for your family, and gain the confidence you’ve been missing for a while. You are frustrated, too comfortable and you are not flourishing… now, you’re stuck. Here’s why.
You Struggle with self love.
Have you accepted you… for you? Is it your cholesterol levels that came back so elevated? The new medication your doctor put you on? Or is it that excess weight that you are trying to lose, or gain? Health matters at every body size and shape. Body confidence should be a priority of yours, if it isn’t already. There is no “one size fits all” magical diet or health tip to cure all of your health flaws and weaknesses. The only way to flourish in your health and wellness journey is to be okay with who you are. This will take you a very long way. Make that your motto, live it daily, and the results will blow your mind.
You are not ready for commitment.
Commitment is a pretty big deal. You are excited to start, but don’t know how. You understand that good results come with hard work, but you can’t find the time to put in the work. You’ve got all the motivation in the world to begin, but you just need a little push. These poor unhealthy habits are apart of you and now that it’s time for change, you can’t give in. Well my friend, you are not alone. In order to commit to this wellness journey, you need to focus on the outcome. What you are gaining out of this journey? Think about how much your labs will improve on your next doctor visit, or the amount of weight you will lose or gain, or the confidence and self love you will have. It’s time to commit. The outcome matters. The results matter. Your health matters.
You don’t believe in yourself.
Do you ever feel like giving up before you even try? Yes, that is absolutely normal. The end goal seems too far away and you don’t feel like you will be successful. If you fall into this category, you need to take a step back and breathe in and out. Discover why this journey matters to you. Got priorities? What are they? Does your health matter to you because you want to be there for your family? Do you want to accomplish your dreams, in good health? Find out what the “why” is, and what is holding you back from stepping up. Can you think of someone that can hold you accountable? Accountability partners will keep you on track. Speak life into your goals, write them down, re-visit them at times when you are feeling discouraged and remain positive. Say it loud and clear, “I can, and I will”.
You let your failures define you.
Ever heard of “if at first you don’t succeed, try try try again!” or “If plan A doesn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters.” Yup, that’s exactly what it’s all about. The journey is about perseverance. Who said it’s supposed to be easy? There will be hurdles along the way, but remember why you started this journey to begin with. That’ll be enough to keep you moving. Take each failure and allow it to motivate you to keep pushing through. Learn from them. Whether it’s the poor food choices you keep making or it’s that exercise you keep putting off, just remember that you are not your failures. You are a human being and human beings are allowed to fall. Its normal. Just don’t forget to get back up again.
You want quick results.
Good things come to those who are consistent, motivated, and make an effort to work towards a healthier lifestyle. You will not win with a quick fix. Again, you will not win with a quick fix. Ever wondered why that restrictive diet you followed did not give you long lasting results? Or the time when that diet pill or supplement didn’t work out for you? The world is filled with nutrition junk, myths and fads, so not every diet pill, supplement, diet or exercise program will work for you. If you are struggling with a health condition, seek medical advice from your physician who will refer you to a dietitian if necessary. If you just want to be healthier remember to take it one step at a time, even if it takes longer than you expected. The more effort you put into achieving your health goals, the better the results will be.
So there it is, you may fall into one, some, all or none of the above scenarios that I presented to you. Wherever you find yourself on this health journey, don’t forget to pace yourself. Seriously, there is no rush. There is no end to this journey, it is a lifelong commitment that you have to be willing to make. Challenges will certainly come, but never give up. In order to flourish heights, you need that seed of commitment to plant your health on higher ground.
